Sally Kharisma Putri, S.E - Head Of Marcomm & Bahasa Indonesia Teacher.

Located in Basuki Rahmat (Temporary building of SMANSS), a female teacher named Sally Kharisma Putri (24) give her comments of her experience being part of SMAN Sumatera Selatan.  She said that,  It’s been a wonderful term for her to be part of SMAN Sumatra Selatan, especially witnessing the students’ enthusiasm in interacting during class activities inside and outside of classroom.  She feels glad that she has  the chance to teach challenging lessons Bahasa Indonesia.

In bahasa, she prouds  witnessing  students’ improvement relating to their writing skill. It’s relating to poetry making. Not many students have this skill, especially in wording. Fortunately, they understand that poem is not always about writing a high level word that people don’t understand. They started writing by imagining several things and writing down using simple meaningful words. Students knew that they are not Kahlil Gibran, Chairil Anwar, or Shakespeare. But they believe they can create their own poem using their beautiful mind. Students also learn how to be alert of what’s happening around them and interact with people around school through interviewing as part of the lesson to teach them how to be young journalist. They involved their critical thinking here to see and write the news from different perspectives.

I love my job as a physics teacher. Many students think that physics is too difficult, but hopefully I can change their mindset that physics is interesting lesson. I try to teach physics using daily life approaches, by analyzing our daily equipment/tools and phenomena.

Diarani Ariesta, S.Si

Math is fun!, that’s why i like to teach mathematics. By learning math we know the basic of science, we know how to work accurately, and we know how to play with numbers!. My name is Diarani Ariesta Wulandari and now i’m guiding grade XI students learning two curriculums of math, KTSP and A level IGCSE.

Usually people will think that mathematic is complicated lesson. But i would like to call this case as “math is a challenge”. So, as a math teacher I’m really curious to find some ideas to make students enjoying in learning math. Study about math is not only staying focusedly at class and listening the explanations all the time. Me and my students also likes to have some games, creating math’s crafts, singing the songs and even playing a role of drama!

As an alumni from Diponegoro University majoring Mathematics Science, i am so enthusiastic to introduce the students about technology in mathematics and show them that Math is easy to be understood. Therefore, beside theories and questions practice, i introduce them mathematical computer’s programs such as Maple and SPSS. They really like to explore for this programs since it shows that mathematic actually is easy. I hope students in SMAN Sumatera selatan can be one step a head from other schools in empowering math and they will have ideas in the future to create more mathematics programs .Let’s make Math Enjoyable!. Go Mathematics!

Joseph Byron Trpkosh

“Music is a universal language.”Notes are notes, music is music, right? While the basic concepts of music are universal, the finer mechanisms are a little more varied. Upon arrival at SMAN Sumatra Selatan Sampoerna Academy in January, I was thrown into the classroom routine almost right away and was immediately asked to adapt a curriculum for the students. As a first year teacher, that is terrifying! I did not have any other option, though, so that is exactly what I did.

I began with teaching basic music notation, trying to get away from the number system the students were so used to. We have worked hard on rhythm: dictation, notation, and listening and the students have adapted to this western system, though some a little more begrudgingly than others.

In addition to rhythm, we have been working on reading and writing notes on the staff. Through mnemonics and some friendly competitions, students fully understand this concept. Overall, the students are keen to learn and willing to try new techniques, even when my activities are experimental.

As our new academic year draws nearer, I hope to utilize more practical means for teaching. The first step in doing this is to acquire new resources. While I develop a new and more organized curriculum for next year, I hope some new supplies, i.e. instruments, will be available to us. In addition to this, I hope to incorporate music club and music class a little more. With this unifying of structures, I believe we’ll be able to have regular concerts, develop our musical ability, and expose these students to more a varied selection of repertoire.

Dame Panjaitan, S.Pd

The Great nation is a nation that respects of history ( Ir.Soekarno)

Perhaps history is only known to us as a subject at school or in education. However, we must remember that one minute or one day ago is the history of our life that couldn’t happen again.

It will be our life experience historical. History is not far from our life because through moments of ones history we can learn to become a better person than yesterday. Remains a strong personal through your history and you will be a great creator of history.

I am Dame R.G Panjaitan, a history teacher for grade X, XI, XII. I am graduated from Sriwijaya University. I have challenge to teach history in my class.

At the first time, some students were afraid of this lesson because they think that history is a full of memorizing lesson. But I support them to know more about history and learn how to have analyzing skill individually as well as democratically.

History is not something to be remember only but a lesson which has to be applied as part of our life. Then, students can find an enhance their own understanding of history easily with my guidance.
