Marissa Greena, S.Pd - Olympiad Coordinator

Marissa Grena Suryani S.Pd or You can Called me “Ibu Iis”, born in Palembang 10^th March 1988. I graduated from University of Sriwijaya. Here, I work as a chemistry teacher, karate advisor and olympiad coordinator. I’m teaching grade XI students only.

The responsibilty of olympiad coordinator is to prepare students to Join OSN (Olimpiade Sains Nasional). We have target at least 2 students from every subject (science earth, astronomy, mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, economics, and computer).

In 2011, one of our students, Ansor Prima Yudha, as a representative from South Sumatera, joined OSN in Astronomy subjects in Manado. Meanwhile, in this year, they are three students who will go to Jakarta to join OSN; Faizal Fikri (Astronomy Subject), Aditya Fernando Sitorus (Science Earth Subject), and Syaiful Rusli Effendy Pane (Economics Subject).

This year’s OSN will be held in 2 – 7 September 2012. Hopefully, they can get gold medals. Amiinn.. we are really proud of our students. We can make our school the best in South Sumatera. It is the beginning of our dream. Don’t stop to dream as we can see from the quote:

Hi Everyone.....

My name is Ria Anggraini. You can call me Bu Ria. I graduated from chemistry department, teacher training and education faculty, Sriwijaya University. I am a chemistry teacher. In SMA Negeri Sumatera Selatan (Sampoerna Academy), I am teaching XII grade. This is my second year as a teacher. I love my job as a teacher and I love my students.I do my best for the success of my students.

Chemistry is defined as a natural science that studies the composition, structure, and properties of matter, as well as the changes it undergoes and the energy accompanying the changes. Matter and its changes are all around us, even when we are going to school and the fact that our body is composed of matters. Everything about matter and its changes are studied in chemistry. Chemistry plays a big role in many aspects of our lives. This is what makes studying chemistry important.

Besides teaching chemistry, I am a laboratory coordinator. There is a laboratory assistant who help me in preparing all the equipments for doing an experiment. Before conducting an experiment, the risks can happen anytime. For example, determine the danger of the chemical substances used, identify any risky steps in the experiment, and consult the design of the experiment to a teacher/ lab assistant. In addition, there are laboratory rules that have to be followed during experiment. For instance, do not eat/drink/taste chemical substances, wear lab jackets and eye protection if necessary and never use your fingers to stir substance but use spatula. Conducting an experiment in the laboratory is something fun since we can satisfy our curiosity. Target : We have standard laboratories for conducting the A level exam.

I LOVE CHEMISTRY
